Basketball Game Preview: Columbia Raiders vs. Smithville Smithies

The Columbia Raiders will challenge the Smithville Smithies at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Columbia is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 14 games.

Columbia is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They beat Richmond Heights by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 54-40.

Meanwhile, Smithville waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 42-31 victory over the Redbirds.

Smithville's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.1 points over those games. As for Columbia, their victory bumped their record up to 21-5.

Columbia came up short against Smithville in their previous matchup back in January, falling 45-39. Can Columbia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
