Basketball Recap: Brilliant Takes a Loss

Brilliant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Berry Wildcats and fell 66-32. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Jordan Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Berry, going 7 for 11 on his way to 14 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ashton Waltrip, who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and four blocks.

Brilliant's loss dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Berry, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Brilliant Tigers duke it out with the Hackleburg Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hackleburg has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 194 points over their last three matches. As for Berry, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Sumiton Christian at 6:30 p.m. Berry is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.
