Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Alisal's 11th in Last 12 Outings

Alisal won the last time they faced Rancho San Juan and things went their way on Thursday too. The Trojans blew past the Trailblazers 15-3. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

Nevaeh Lopez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Lopez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Iliana Cruz and Micah Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Cruz went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI, while Smith went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Smith is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Aaliyah Ruiz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Alisal kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Alisal has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Rancho San Juan, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Alisal will challenge rival Pacific Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 2.5, the Breakers 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Rancho San Juan is set to take on their familiar foe Carmel at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
