Soccer Game Preview: Aspen vs. Steamboat Springs

For the first time this season, Aspen will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will take on the Steamboat Springs Sailors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Aspen fell victim to Basalt and their airtight defense two weeks ago. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Longhorns. Aspen have struggled against Basalt recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Steamboat Springs was not quite Niwot's equal in the second half on Saturday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 1-0.

Steamboat Springs now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Aspen, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Aspen couldn't quite get it done against Steamboat Springs in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 as they fell 2-0. Can the Skiers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
