Basketball Game Preview: Au Gres-Sims Wolverines vs. Hale Eagles

The Au Gres-Sims Wolverines will face off against the Hale Eagles at 7:20 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Au Gres-Sims took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Hillman as Au Gres-Sims made off with a 52-26 win. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 25 points or more this season.

Au Gres-Sims got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophie Fox out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Fox is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Analeis Ming was another key player, going 6 for 12 on her way to 13 points along with eight assists and seven steals.

Meanwhile, Hale waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 40-33 win over the Thunderbolts. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 204th).

Hale pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for Au Gres-Sims, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Au Gres-Sims beat Hale 47-39 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Au Gres-Sims since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
