Soccer Game Preview: New Braunfels vs. Leander

The New Braunfels Unicorns will square off against the Leander Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Braunfels is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.1 goals per game this season.

New Braunfels' last matchup might've seen six goals scored, but the final result was still a bit underwhelming. They and Boerne finished up their match with a 3-3 draw on Friday. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time New Braunfels have been dealt a draw since back in February.

They hit Boerne with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Stella Finch, Elise Owen, and Makenna Cundiff.

Meanwhile, Leander came tearing into last Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Grizzlies a 1-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Leander's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Glenn are ranked 326th).

With that draw, New Braunfels' record moves to 12-7-4. As for Leander, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3-4.
