Baseball Recap: Lehighton Triumphs

Lehighton proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 14) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Bangor Slaters 3-2. This was payback for the Indians, who suffered a 9-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Chase Llewellyn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits.

On the hitting side, Lehighton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Bellis, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Lehighton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.33 runs across that stretch. As for Bangor, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lehighton is set to face off against their familiar foe Catasauqua at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Bangor will challenge rival Northern Lehigh at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
