Softball Recap: Sanger Victorious

While Sanger's win against Kerman wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Apaches won by a run and slipped past the Lions 4-3. The Apaches haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Emma Hernandez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run.

In other pitching news, Maddi Arganda looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Brea Poindexter was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2025. Carolyn Kelzer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Sanger's record is now 8-5. As for Kerman, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-4-1 record.

Coming up, Sanger will take on Clovis North in a tournament on Monday. As for Kerman, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Kingsburg at 6:30 p.m. on April 7.
