Recap: Brandon Academy Scorpions vs. Gaither Cowboys
After flying high against the Bayshore Christian Faith Warriors last Friday, the Brandon Academy Scorpions came back down to earth. Brandon Academy was the victim of a tough 76-50 defeat at the hands of Gaither on Saturday.
Despite the loss, Brandon Academy still got an impressive performance from Will Hawes, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Tyshaun Tims was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Gaither was led to victory by Jayce Humphries and Rico Kindred. Humphries scored 17 points, while Kindred scored 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kindred has scored at least 25% of Gaither's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dante Sanchez, who scored ten points.
Brandon Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Gaither, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Brandon Academy will take on Plant in a holiday battle at 5:00 p.m. on Friday at. Plant presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brandon Academy in Florida (Plant is ranked 151st, while Brandon Academy is ranked 515th). Gaither and Estero will face off at 2:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
