Football Game Preview: Riverside Pirates vs. Lehman Catholic Cavaliers

Riverside and Lehman Catholic are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2017, but not for long. The Pirates will square off against the Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Riverside's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Troy Christian 34-0. That looming 34-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Pirates yet this season.

Meanwhile, Bethel kept up with Lehman Catholic until halftime on Friday, but afterwards: not so much. The Cavaliers blew past the Bees 48-27. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

A big part of Lehman Catholic's win came down to the chemistry between Turner Lachey and his top target Evan O'Leary. Lachey threw for 615 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.8 yards per attempt while O'Leary picked up 393 receiving yards and four TDs. That's the most passing touchdowns Lachey has posted since back in August. Benton Verrill also helped out as he racked up 102 receiving yards.

Lehman Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Riverside, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Riverside was taken down by Lehman Catholic 46-13 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
