Softball Recap: Curwensville Golden Tide vs. Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs
Curwensville had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-5 to make it five. They came up short against the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs, falling 14-0. The Golden Tide were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Curwensville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Butler, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
As for Claysburg-Kimmel, the win keeps they at an undefeated 9-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.6 runs this season.
On Claysburg-Kimmel's side, Isabella Paris was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Paris was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, McKenna Black was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Jaylee Swindell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Curwensville and Claysburg-Kimmel should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Golden Tide will square off against Mount Union at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (165 vs. 347). Meanwhile, Claysburg-Kimmel (ranked 22nd) will meet Tussey Mountain (ranked 285th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
