Baseball Recap: Mainland Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mainland can now relate to. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Belleview Rattlers on Tuesday.

Ryan Allen was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Mainland's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 6-3 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jordan Payne, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Mainland's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Belleview, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season.
