Baseball Recap: Maclay Victorious

Maclay came out on top against North Florida Christian on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Marauders took their game against the Eagles 9-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Marauders also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2025.

The team relied heavily on Ben Wagnon, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tucker Poppell, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Maclay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

The win got Maclay back to even at 5-5. As for North Florida Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Maclay will be playing at home against Rickards at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for North Florida Christian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Aucilla Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
