Softball Recap: Landrum Cardinals vs. Chapman Panthers
If Landrum was feeling good fresh off their 27-0 takedown of Brashier Middle College Charter two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chapman Panthers on Tuesday. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Player #12 made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ashton Chapman, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Landrum's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Chapman, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Landrum will face off against Chesnee at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chapman, they will square off against Spartanburg at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.71 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
