Softball Recap: Monte Vista Comes Up Short

Monte Vista fell victim to Helix and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Highlanders, falling 20-0. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Monarchs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Monte Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Helix, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monte Vista will take on Grossmont at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Helix, they will head out to face off against Mount Miguel at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Matadors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.21 runs per game on average), something the Highlanders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
