Independence typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Cranberry Area proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Patriots. With that win, the Berries brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.
Gracee Hess made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Ashylyn McWilliams and Lexi Reisinger did most of the damage at the plate: McWilliams went 3-for-5 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Reisinger scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
