Baseball Recap: Leon Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Leon and North Florida Christian had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Lions came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 8-3 on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-5 back in February.

Connor Borges made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Borges wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kolbe Baker, who went 3-for-4 with one home run. Those three hits gave Baker a new career-high. Another was Jacob Strunk, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Leon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Leon's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for North Florida Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-12.

Leon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-2 victory against Bay on the 8th. As for North Florida Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Wakulla on the 8th.
