Baseball Game Preview: Devine Warhorses vs. Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls)

Devine and Uvalde are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Warhorses will square off against the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Devine easily dispatched Pearsall on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Warhorses fell just short of Floresville by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Warhorses in their meetings with the Tigers/Jaguars: they've now lost six in a row.

Henry Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Devine saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rudy Costilla, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Uvalde fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Pleasanton on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-5.

Devine's loss dropped their record down to 6-11-1. As for Uvalde, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-5-2 record this season.
