Recap: Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans vs. Smoky Hill Buffaloes
The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They really took it to Smoky Hill for the full four quarters, racking up a 87-17 victory on the road. With Fountain-Fort Carson ahead 41-5 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fountain-Fort Carson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keira Mitchell, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 steals. Another player making a difference was Dessirae Ulmer, who scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Fountain-Fort Carson's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Smoky Hill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Fountain-Fort Carson will square off against Grand Junction Central at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Smoky Hill, they will square off against Discovery Canyon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
