Baseball Recap: Lakeland Hawks vs. Moscow Bears

Lakeland had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged the Moscow Bears out 4-3. The victory was just what Lakeland needed coming off of a 15-2 loss in their prior matchup.

Cash Lund was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Tadgh Ellwood, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

On Moscow's side, Butch Kiblen was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Kiblen has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Jack Driskill was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Lakeland's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Moscow, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3.

Lakeland is on the road again on Friday to play Kellogg at 3:00 p.m. As for Moscow, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Coeur d'Alene at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
