Baseball Recap: Forbes Road Takes a Loss

Forbes Road had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-12 to make it four. They lost 11-0 to the McConnellsburg Spartans. That's two games in a row now that Forbes Road has lost by exactly 11 runs.

As for McConnellsburg, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.

For McConnellsburg's part, Finn Kuhn tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Kuhn has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hoyt Glenn was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of McConnellsburg's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Alexander, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, Forbes Road will challenge Northern Bedford County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Forbes Road's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for McConnellsburg, they will face off against Everett at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
