Basketball Recap: West Field Falls Despite Big Games from Daxton Laughter and Drew Faddis

While it was all tied up 25-25 at halftime, West Field was not quite Farmington's equal in the second half on Friday. They took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Phoenix. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Phoenix apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

West Field's loss came despite strong showings from Drew Faddis and Daxton Laughter. Faddis shot 67% from the field on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds, while Laughter posted 14 points and six assists. Thanks to that strong game, Faddis now owns an excellent 45.5% field goal percentage. Jaden Fowers was another key player, putting up two points and three steals.

Farmington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malakai Tobler led the charge by dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten assists. Those ten assists gave Tobler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Beattie, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 13 points and five boards.

This is the second loss in a row for West Field and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Farmington, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Coming up, West Field will head out to challenge Woods Cross at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Farmington, they will take on Dixie in a tournament on Thursday.
