After both having extra time off, the New Life Christian Academy Eagles and the Jackson HomeSchool Victors will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
New Life Christian Academy took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Hattiesburg HomeSchool, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Forerunners two weeks ago.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was New Life Christian Academy who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 15-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-8.
Meanwhile, Jackson HomeSchool had to endure a five-match losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Sylva Bay Academy on Monday as they made off with a 3-0 victory.
Jackson HomeSchool walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-9, 25-17, 25-18.
New Life Christian Academy better focus on containing Adelle Mooney and Lucy Robinson as the pair were huge in Jackson HomeSchool's win. Mooney had 13 digs, while Robinson had 12 digs, nine kills, and nine aces. What's more, Robinson also posted a 8% hitting percentage, which is the highest she's achieved over her last six contests.
Jackson HomeSchool was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 21 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive matches.
New Life Christian Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Jackson HomeSchool, their record now sits at 8-10.
New Life Christian Academy came up short against Jackson HomeSchool in their previous meeting back in August, falling 3-1. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
