Cherry Creek is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Smoky Hill 19-3 on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Bruins have won by exactly 16 runs.
Max Goldberg looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Connor Larkin was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Lucas Schultz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Cherry Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .690. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Eaglecrest entered their tilt with Smoky Hill on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Buffaloes.
Tavish Dey was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. Eaglecrest is 2-1 when Dey posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
Dey wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landen Holmes, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Holmes posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another was Brian Moreland, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double.
Cherry Creek pushed their record up to 8-4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Eaglecrest, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Cherry Creek hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Eaglecrest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Cherry Creek's way against Eaglecrest in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Cherry Creek made off with a 20-9 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
