Preview: Brookfield Academy Blue Knights vs. St. Francis Mariners
Brookfield Academy is 10-0 against St. Francis since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The two teams will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Brookfield Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Last Wednesday, Brookfield Academy came up short against Brookfield Central and fell 62-51.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Madison York, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Amelia Rigel was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, after only 16 points in their last contest, St. Francis made sure to put some points up on the board against University School of Milwaukee on Saturday. Everything went St. Francis' way against University School of Milwaukee as St. Francis made off with a 62-38 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win St. Francis has posted since December 5, 2023.
Brookfield Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for St. Francis, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
Everything came up roses for Brookfield Academy against St. Francis in their previous matchup on January 4th as the team secured a 72-32 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brookfield Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
