Softball Recap: Burlington City Comes Up Short

Burlington City extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-5 in the process. They lost 18-1 to Doane Academy. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by exactly 17 runs.

As for Doane Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. The result was nothing new for Doane Academy, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Doane Academy's part, they got a massive performance out of Camryn Derhofer, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Derhofer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brielle Perry, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Burlington City will take on Maple Shade at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. Doane Academy will be paying especially close attention to Burlington City's contest: after Burlington City faces off against Maple Shade, they'll take on Doane Academy again at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
