Baseball Recap: Annandale Comes Up Short

Annandale had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-10 to make it six. They lost 11-1 to the Falls Church Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-2 back in March.

As for Falls Church, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4. Considering they have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Falls Church's part, Karl Hirz was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Hirz has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Elling, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Annandale will challenge Hayfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Atoms surely won't give up without a fight. As for Falls Church, they will face off against Lewis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
