Softball Recap: Mars Comes Up Short

Mars lost against New Castle back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Fightin' Planets came up short against the Hurricanes, falling 19-4. The Fightin' Planets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gabrielle Rapport was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Allie Walukiewicz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Mars' defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for New Castle, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3.

Coincidentally, Mars and New Castle will both be playing Fox Chapel the next time they take the field. The Hurricanes will host the Foxes at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Fightin' Planets will head out to face them at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
