Bryant Mathis turned in yet another pitching appearance with fewer than two earned runs surrendered on Friday. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. Considering he played a big game the last time he faced off against Chipley back in February of 2025, the result shouldn't come as too huge a shock. Mathis has become a key player for Holmes County: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 12-14 otherwise.

Even though Mathis couldn't lead Holmes County over Chipley, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled on Saturday. The Blue Devils are 9-1 against the Tigers going back to February of 2024, a lead they'll look to extend.
