Softball Game Preview: Menchville Monarchs vs. Warwick Raiders

For the second straight game, Menchville will face off against Warwick. The Monarchs will welcome the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Menchville's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Warwick has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Menchville is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Warwick on Tuesday. The Monarchs haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Taylor Twitchell (2027) was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Suki Gibbons (2027) and Brielle Creque (2027) did most of the damage at the plate: Gibbons (2027) scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Creque (2027) scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Rashani Sackey (2026) was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Menchville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four strikeouts batters in three consecutive matches.

Menchville's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Warwick, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
