Softball Recap: Tonopah Valley Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Yuma Catholic, Tonopah Valley was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes as they made off with a 13-1 victory. For the Phoenix, this counts as revenge for the 17-3 win the Coyotes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Morgan Green was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Tonopah Valley got a big performance out of Mackenzie Eaton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Shiloh Walker, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Tonopah Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arizona Lutheran Academy only posted an OBP of .400.

Tonopah Valley moved to 6-11 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Tonopah Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 26-16 loss against Benjamin Franklin on the 26th. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they will square off against Heritage Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Coyotes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Heroes have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
