St. Mary's-Colgan posted their closest victory since September 2nd on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Galena Bulldogs 2-1. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

In the two sets St. Mary's-Colgan was on fire: they won each by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-12, 25-14.

Bella Ascanio paced St. Mary's-Colgan's offense, picking up ten kills. Ascanio got some help from Izzy Tierney and her 14 assists. Tierney was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

St. Mary's-Colgan moved to 7-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Galena, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-7.

St. Mary's-Colgan has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Baxter Springs on the 23rd. As for Galena, they will head out on the road to challenge Columbus on October 2.
