Softball Game Preview: Oil City Oilers vs. Grove City Eagles

The Oil City Oilers will head out to take on the Grove City Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oil City is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Oil City came up short against Jamestown on Friday, falling 19-1.

Oil City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shayla Hanlon, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Grove City hadn't done well against Franklin recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Knights. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Oil City's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Grove City, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-3.

Oil City couldn't quite get it done against Grove City in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 11-8. Can the Oilers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
