Baseball Game Preview: Ridgeview Wolf Pack vs. Taft Wildcats

The Ridgeview Wolf Pack will head out on the road to take on the Taft Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Taft took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ridgeview, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Ridgeview beat San Luis Obispo 8-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolf Pack.

Ben Castro was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Ridgeview let Adrian Bravo and Keisyun Allen run wild. Bravo scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Allen scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Bravo a new career-high in RBI (three).

Meanwhile, Taft fell victim to Lompoc and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Braves, falling 13-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since April 5, 2024.

Taft saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rowdy Kenley, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Ridgeview's record is now 2-0. As for Taft, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Ridgeview came out on top in a nail-biter against Taft in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, sneaking past 3-2. Will Ridgeview repeat their success, or does Taft have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
