Softball Game Preview: Monache Marauders vs. El Diamante Miners

The Monache Marauders will venture away from home to square off against the El Diamante Miners at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monache knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully El Diamante likes a good challenge.

On Thursday, Monache made easy work of Porterville and carried off an 11-1 win. Considering the Marauders have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Shy-Lee Teran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aalyha Mendoza was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydin Sabol, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Monache kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, El Diamante posted their closest victory since March 15th on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Golden West 5-4. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Miners as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Monache is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for El Diamante, their record now sits at 7-10-1.

Everything went Monache's way against El Diamante in their previous meeting on April 3rd, as Monache made off with a 19-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Marauders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
