Preview: Dooly County Bobcats vs. Hawkinsville Red Devils

Dooly County is 9-1 against Hawkinsville since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Dooly County Bobcats will be playing at home against the Hawkinsville Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. Dooly County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Dooly County pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Perry. That's two games in a row now that Dooly County has lost by exactly eight points.

Meanwhile, Hawkinsville had just enough and edged Twiggs County out 34-32 on Friday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Hawkinsville has scored all year.

Hawkinsville found their leader in underclassman Nieem Blair, who scored ten points along with two steals. Blair hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Nelson Singletary, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Dooly County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Hawkinsville, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9.

Dooly County opened the new year with a less-than-successful 74-61 defeat to Hawkinsville. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hawkinsville's Darius Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Now that Dooly County knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
