Baseball Recap: Hastings Finds Home Field Redemption Against Blair

There's no place like home for Hastings, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They never let the Blair Bears get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Carlos Jimenez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Elliott Sidlo was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chance Vertin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Hastings always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blair only posted an OBP of .118.

Hastings pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Blair, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
