Basketball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Vero Beach's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Vero Beach won the last time they faced Westwood and things went their way on Saturday too. The Vero Beach Indians had just enough and edged the Westwood Panthers out 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted against the Panthers since January 28, 2016.

Despite the loss, Westwood still got an impressive performance from Joseph Weathers, who posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave Weathers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marquan Burgess, who earned ten points.

Vero Beach has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Westwood, they dropped their record down to 9-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Vero Beach wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-65 victory against Martin County on the 22nd. Westwood has also already played their next matchup, a 63-50 win against Pine on the 20th.
