Softball Game Preview: Northwood Rangers vs. St. Joseph Central Catholic Crimson Streaks

The Northwood Rangers will square off against the St. Joseph Central Catholic Crimson Streaks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Northwood's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Rogers 14-0.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph Central Catholic got the win against Old Fort on Wednesday by a conclusive 10-2. The Crimson Streaks haven't had any issues with the Stockaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Stella Thomas made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Emma Kelbley was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Amaree Haralson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

St. Joseph Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Northwood is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
