Football Game Preview: Roosevelt Eagles vs. Idalou Wildcats

Roosevelt is 1-9 against Idalou since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Roosevelt will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.

Roosevelt fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Muleshoe on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 55-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mules. On the bright side, the 49- point effort marked the Eagles' highest-scoring contest to date.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jason Jenkins, who picked up 77 receiving yards and one TD, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. He showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 58 yards. Another player making a difference was Cole Hatchett, who rushed for 46 yards and a pair of scores.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ricardo Perez, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Idalou lost to Wall at home by a 35-21 margin last Friday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 461st, while the Hawks are ranked 92nd).

Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Idalou, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
