Basketball Game Preview: Seymour Owls vs. Martinsville Artesians

The Seymour Owls will square off against the Martinsville Artesians at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Seymour is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Seymour came up short against New Albany and fell 53-46. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 20th).

Meanwhile, Martinsville beat Bethesda Christian 56-48 on Saturday.

Seymour better focus on containing Zhane Capshaw and Grady Gardner as the pair were huge in Martinsville's win. Capshaw went 11 for 14 on his way to 25 points and five rebounds, while Gardner posted 18 points and three steals. Gardner's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Stroud, who earned six points and five rebounds.

Seymour's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Martinsville, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Seymour beat Martinsville 43-30 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will Seymour repeat their success, or does Martinsville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
