Baseball Recap: Capuchino's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Capuchino posted their closest victory since March 7th on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Burlingame Panthers 1-0. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The result came thanks to Declan Mendel's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Capuchino hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Capuchino moved to 10-8 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Burlingame, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Capuchino will face off against rival Menlo-Atherton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Burlingame is set to take on their familiar foe King's Academy at 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3.9, the Knights 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
