Basketball Recap: Shallowater Comes Up Short

Shallowater blew Slaton out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Slaton got their revenge. The Shallowater Mustangs fell just short of the Slaton Tigers by a score of 58-55. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Shallowater's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-3. As for Slaton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-4.

Shallowater will face off against Idalou at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Shallowater's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups. As for Slaton, they will square off against Muleshoe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Slaton is facing Muleshoe at the right time seeing as Muleshoe is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
