Softball Recap: Higley Find Success

Higley won the last time they faced Gilbert and things went their way on Thursday too. The Knights came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 12-9. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Maruko Harada was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Ella Babcock was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Samantha Parisi was another key player, earning three runs and two stolen bases.

Higley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Higley and bumps their season record up to 9-18-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Gilbert, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12-1.
