Baseball Game Preview: Mendota Aztecs vs. Firebaugh Eagles

Mendota hasn't had much luck against Firebaugh recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Aztecs will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Mendota will be strutting in after a victory while Firebaugh will be coming in after a defeat.

Mendota took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over Avenal. The result was nothing new for the Aztecs, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Firebaugh's offense. They came up short against Washington Union on Saturday, falling 12-0. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Mendota has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Firebaugh, their loss dropped their record down to 4-22.

Everything went Mendota's way against Firebaugh in their previous matchup back in April, as Mendota made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aztecs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
