Softball Game Preview: Selma Bears vs. Hanford West Huskies

Selma is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out to take on the Hanford West Huskies at 4:00 p.m. Selma will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Selma is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Central Valley Christian on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-0 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bears with their most commanding win of the season.

Selma got a massive performance out of Moriah Preciado, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Preciado has posted since back in March of 2025. Jayleen Sisavanh was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Selma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Hanford West was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bullard.

Hanford West saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Rodriguez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Hanford West has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Selma, their record now sits at 15-3.

Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Selma hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Hanford West struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Selma couldn't quite finish off Hanford West when the teams last played back in April of 2025 and fell 6-4. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
