Baseball Recap: Harrison County Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pace, Harrison County was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They blew past the Lewis County Lions 14-3. Considering the Thorobreds/Fillies have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Jordan Persinger, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Donavan Walker, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Harrison County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewis County only posted an OBP of .350.

Harrison County's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Lewis County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Harrison County will be playing at home against Breathitt County at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Thorobreds/Fillies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Lewis County, they will welcome Greenup County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
