Basketball Recap: Alec Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northern over Great Mills

Northern lost against Great Mills back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Northern Patriots fell to the Great Mills Hornets 68-62. The Patriots just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alec Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Robinson, who went 10 for 15 on his way to 22 points.

Northern's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Great Mills, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Northern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 81-58 victory against Calvert on the 22nd. Great Mills has also already played their next game, a 64-56 loss against Lackey on the 22nd.
