Everything went Pahrump Valley's way against Mater Academy East Las Vegas on Wednesday as Pahrump Valley made off with a 14-1 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Evalenne Armendariz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, Pahrump Valley got a massive performance out of Riley Saldana, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Danika Cox-Hosino was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Pahrump Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Virgin Valley and Pahranagat Valley meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. Virgin Valley walked away with a 13-10 win over Pahranagat Valley. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Ava Noel, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Noel is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Raylynn Woods, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Pahrump Valley now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Virgin Valley, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pahrump Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .518. However, it's not like Virgin Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .640. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pahrump Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Virgin Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 5-1. Will Pahrump Valley repeat their success, or does Virgin Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
