Devyn Grant Delivers Electric Effort Vs Fuquay - Varina

Starting off the list is Garner's Devyn Grant, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Grant rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 54 receiving yards and a touchdown. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 154 rushing yards dating back to last season.

The victory (which was Garner's third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. Grant and Garner will challenge Cleveland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Cleveland Wins Eighth-Straight Thanks to Jackson Byrd

Jackson Byrd was instrumental in extending Cleveland's winning streak to eight on Friday. Byrd was dynamite, rushing for 121 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while also throwing for 286 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt. Those 121 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

If the past is any indication, Byrd could be in store for another big game when he takes on Garner on Friday. When Byrd last faced the Trojans back in October of 2023, he threw for 318 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also punched in two rushing scores.

Damonte Garner Turns in Season-Best Effort

Southeast Raleigh came up short on Friday despite Damonte Garner delivering his best game to date. Garner picked up 141 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown.

Southeast Raleigh is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-3. Garner will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant performance when he faces off against Corinth Holders on Friday.

Sawyer Lowe continued his hot streak on Friday by dropping his 21st-straight game (dating back to last season) with at least eight total tackles. He turned in his biggest game of the season, picking up a sack and making 17 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

If the past is any indication, Lowe could be in store for another big game when he takes on Garner on Friday. Lowe forced a fumble and made 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss) the last time he and the Trojans duked it out back in October of 2023.

On Friday, Southeast Raleigh had to settle for second even though Ty Powell put up the best numbers he has all season. Powell threw for 369 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt.

On the season, Powell has thrown 9 touchdowns while averaging 201 passing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had two passing touchdowns.
